WC cube - tomatoes

The cube water content in tomatoes in the pre-planting stage is a very powerful tool to steer the plant balance.

This can be controlled during this stage with the drop in water content between waterings. The suggested target figure is shown in the column. As with all of the critical stage regular measurements should be taken to check the rate of dry-back.

Once planted the cube water content is more difficult to control as the roots move into the slab.

The top of the cube will become drier where the suction from the slab is increased with slabs 10 cm high and especially in coir slabs. Care should be taken in these cases that the cube does not become too dry before the roots are established in the slab.
